about

Pat wrote the original as a solo effort, just him singing along with his acoustic guitars. I fell in love with this song immediately and couldn't stop playing it. I asked him if I could 'tinker' with it and once he gave the green light I started adding backing vocals and then asked a few friends if they'd mind helping me out.

Dave Giles was a bass player with a 70's band called Storm Crow and a friend. He agreed to come up with and add a bass line in conjunction with another friend, Wendell Ferguson. Wendell is a well known Canadian Guitarist (Canadian Guitarist Of The Year - 5 years in a row) and he also said he'd 'come up with something'. They both worked together as they didn't want each others work to 'compete' with the others and after they added their parts I sent it all to Pat.

He liked what I sent him so he added drums but we both thought it was missing something. The first 4 bars of the Middle 8... keyboards. It needed keyboards! So I contacted another Streetsville musician, Rob Reed. I sent him what we had and he came up with an excellent addition to the song - and the rest is 'mixing' history.

I hope you enjoy this collaborative effort!

lyrics

Comfy, cozy, curled up by my side,
Watching some old episodes we like.
Humble in our semblance,
Our workings unconfined.
Is this to be abundant?
I know i feel it in the times,
That we're kickin' it together, not concerned by others' ways

And never getting tripped up by the ever-shrinking space,
Between a place to mind our own and the time to meet halfway.

Our fears they might be different, but the important thing i think,
Is that the ways that they affect us feel so wonderfully in sync.

If better days are camped across the creek,
A blocked off passage and a dam upstream,
We'll just hike up both our pants, and dampen down our feet.
A creek-bed's just a hiccup, since we tried to swim the sea.

I'll find i think about the years before we had the thought,
To rediscover all the threads that led to tie this handsome knot,
And if we could do it different, would the line remain as taut?

I'll never say that i was perfect, and i don't think you could too,
But lining up our timing was the best that we could do.
If momentary lapses could collapse this at our feet,
We'd have been crushed by all our troubles long before we'd ever meet.
Way back when all we did was try to figure out each other,
And all we had to do was take some time to figure out ourselves.

about

Mike Cederberg Mississauga, Ontario

Started playing the guitar when I was 10 - took a 6 week crash course and was self-taught from there on. Played in a few bands but always played. Technology has now allowed me to record my versions of songs and instead of just hearing the harmonies and other instruments in my head, I could now add them!
I hope you enjoy these songs!
